Siyanda Zwane is an Urban Warrior!
Ajax Cape Town head coach Muhsin Ertugral has expressed his delight at securing the services of fullback Siyanda Zwane.
The 32-year-old defender has already started training with his new teammates at Ikamva and could make his debut for the Urban Warriors this Wednesday evening, in an Absa Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates.
“I have a new fullback, he is a player I’ve always admired,” Ertugral confirmed on Monday when asked if Siyanda had concluded his move to the club.
“He is a marvelous player to watch, he does everything right and has all the fundamentals of a top player.
“Siyanda is a workaholic, we are happy to have him with us and we are looking forward to his contribution and what he will add down the right flank.
Furthermore, Ertugral highlighted the importance of good wing play with Siyanda to give us extra bite down the right flank, with Sirgio Kammies having caught the eye in that position over the past few weeks.
“When Ajax Cape Town was born, all those early years when I was with Kaizer Chiefs we used to come down here, get walloped and go home. We need to re-kindle that identity,” Ertugral added.
“If you don’t have good wing play you can’t stretch the opponents. Outside gives you space on the inside. This game against Pirates will be a chess game.”
Following nine successful years at Golden Arrows where he won the 2009 MTN8 title, Zwane joined Mamelodi Sundowns with whom he has tasted league and CAF Champions League success.
Kick-off on Wednesday evening in the Mother City is at 19h30 CAT. Tickets are on sale at Computicket.
