Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett has given his thoughts on the new 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship ahead and highlighted the key factors needed to achieve the club’s goals.
The Urban Warriors travel to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon where they will take on Pretoria Callies in the opening fixture of the 22/23 League season.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Bartlett mentioned that the squad has a balance between youth and experience, while noting that consistency will be important in a bid to seek automatic promotion.
“I believe there’s probably about eight clubs that’s going to vie to get promotion to the PSL and for us, its to have the best possible start with our first game,” Bartlett said.
“It’s away from home, I think we’ve assembled a very good squad, a nice balance between the experience and the young players that we’ve had from last season.
“We’ve generally kept a core of players to get us the results that we need this coming season.
“For us it’s to make sure that we find the consistency necessary in order to put a run together. That for us was the biggest downfall for last season. We never had back-to-back wins, we never put a run together and we didn’t convert enough of our draws into wins.
“All those smaller details in this coming season will be important to turn into positives.”
