Following a start of three consecutive away league games, the Urban Warriors were excited to be back home, at familiar grounds Athlone.

Eager to get things underway, the game got off to a timid start, with little goal scoring chances created during the opening exchanges of the match. For much of the first half, the tie proved to be somewhat of a 50/50 encounter, however, JDR Stars could not infiltrate the Spurs back line.

In continuing with the same set of players for the subsequent 45, the game carried the same tone to that of the first-half, with little action being produced in both areas.

JDR were then awarded a corner and took the lead in controversial fashion. With the ball played in, Lincoln Vyver confidently collected the ball inside the small box. In bizarre fashion, the linesman ruled that the ball had crossed the line, much to the dismay of the Urban Warriors.

Justifiably angry, the Cape Town Spurs players and technical team protested against the decision, however the goal stood which ultimately affected the outcome of the game as JDR Stars walked away with a 1-0 win.
