Spurs drop points on the road

Cape Town Spurs suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Casric Stars in their latest Motsepe Foundation Championship tie which took place at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The Urban Warriors went into the tie on the back of three successive victories in all competitions, two of which came in the league, as Spurs continue to seek a promotional finish on the log. 

In travelling to Mpumalanga, Spurs took on Casric Stars who are among the most in form teams in the division. A 39th minute goal by Rakwena was enough for the home team to secure maximum points on the afternoon.

The result leaves the Urban Warriors in 6th spot, amassing 21 points after 13 games played. In a push for promotion to the PSL, Spurs currently trail log leaders Casric Stars by eight points with a game in hand.
