Bartlett: ‘Our goal has not changed’
While Cape Town Spurs bask in their recent form at the top end of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, coach Shaun Bartlett has reiterated the club’s desire to gain automatic promotion to the PSL.
The Urban Warriors will travel to Kimberly on Saturday afternoon, where they will take on Hungry Lions at the Windhoek Draught Park.
Spurs are unbeaten in their last eight league encounters and are currently enjoying a four match winning streak. Reflecting on the upcoming tie, Bartlett touched on his side’s 3-2 win against Baroka and also, the need to maintain momentum in facing Hungry Lions.
“It was a tough game last time out against Baroka,” Bartlett said.
“It was our first time going to their new village and facility, a very tiny field so it made things a bit difficult.
“I think our players applied themselves well, obviously had to show a bit of fighting spirit in the second half to maintain our lead and get all three points which is always good away from home.
“That puts us in good preparation for Hungry Lions in Kimberly on Saturday. So another tough one, two games in one week but our added incentive bonus should be getting points from these games and put us in a good position.
“We go to Kimberly on a good run, obviously winning our last five games and we want to continue that momentum.
“Our goal has not changed, we are pushing for automatic promotion and we’ve got to do everything possible.”
