Cape Town Spurs wonder-kid Luke Baartman is considered a fabulous young prospect in South African football and has impressed in a few displays he has made during the course of the season. Baartman has registered two goals in the DStv Premiership in seven appearances in the competition.

The 17-year-old is a product of the Cape Town Spurs youth academy and made his debut in the PSL against Orlando Pirates in October 2023. Baartman scored his first PSL goal against Kaizer Chiefs in November 2023 and even though Chiefs won the game, that didn’t take away from the young man’s shine during the evening.

There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Baartman’s talent from fans. Especially since the youngster grabbed the opportunity to join the first team with both hands, leading to praises from the technical team in the process.

Baartman is also a hot topic on social media as football fans are curious to know just how far he can go in terms of his talent.

Prior is his promotion to the first team, Baartman had a great start to the DStv Diski Challenge season, where he scored six goals in his first five matches in the campaign.

Urban Warriors technical director Sean Connor has also spoken about what a good prospect Baartman is and lauded his goal scoring ability.

“My job is to keep his feet on the ground, keep him focused and get him to the next level where I believe he can go,” he said.
