Spurs narrowly beaten by Sekhukhune
Cape Town Spurs unfortunately faced defeat at the hands of Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership, losing 1-0 to the side at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.
The result puts a slight dent in the Urban Warriors’ quest to escape automatic relegation, despite having played well in the beginning stages of the first half, Sekhukhune picked up the momentum and were defensively solid.
The home team’s goal was scored in the 52nd minute by Asekho Tiwani, it was a speculative effort but Zama Dlamini was beaten and they took the lead.
Sekhukhune’s back three was hard for Spurs to penetrate, and although Ernst Middendorp’s charges made shots on goal, it would not be enough to really break through.
Lehlohonolo Seema’s men were organised well, as they continued their unbeaten streak in 2024. The Urban Warriors unfortunately, have lost their fourth match in succession.
Six games are left in the DStv Premiership and Spurs will now shift their focus to their next fixture against Richards Bay on Friday, 26 April.
