Urban Warriors edge Royal AM in KZN
Cape Town Spurs beat Royal AM 1-0 in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening. A solid defensive display from the team at the Harry Gwala Stadium ensured that they walked away with all three points.
The first half of the match was one way traffic as Spurs pushed in attack and showed grit. Royal AM had a few chances to score, but Neil Boshoff hardly worked in the first stanza. The scoreline was goalless at half time but it looked promising from the away team.
The second half started on a similar note as the first, and after constant probing, Spurs were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. Gadiel Michael Kamagi did well to produce a composed finish when he took the spot kick in the 64th minute.
Royal AM performed better in the second half, but the Urban Warriors did well to defend and did not concede any goals. Despite their being seven minutes added in stoppage time, the team held their ground well and did not concede.
The victory sees Spurs go up to 18 points in the DStv Premiership to avoid automatic relegation on the night. The team’s next match is against SuperSport United on 10 May.
