Velebayi’s agent discusses player’s future
Lance Davids, the agent of Cape Town Spurs star Asanele Velebayi has shared some insight into what happened with the player’s possible move to Betway Premiership club Kaizer Chiefs.
Davids, who was speaking on Metro FM, gave clarity on Velebayi’s current situation since he’s been also named the captain of Spurs as they journey in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“So, of course, there was a lot of back and forth – Chiefs put in an offer, and the value was too low for Cape Town Spurs,” he said according to a report by SABC Sport.
Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou also explained to the media that if Chiefs can match the value of the player, they will proceed with a possible transfer.
Efstathiou added that the team puts a huge importance on their development structures, and they will only let a player go if the price matches their value.
“We spoke with them [Chiefs] again, we said listen these are the numbers we are looking for, this is how we can assist in making the deal more palatable to you,” he said.
“They promised to come back to us on the next day, whether it was accepted or not. Unfortunately, they did not.”
