Ajax Cape Town is a professional club with a Youth Academy of the highest international standards with squads from Under-12 through to the Young Ajax/Under-19 team. The Scouting Department uses two different processes to sign players for these age groups.
There have been unfortunate events of continuous fraudulent activity with promises being made to young players of the possibility to attend trials at Ajax Cape Town’s Youth Academy for a certain fee.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD WE ASK FOR MONEY FROM ANYONE TO COME ON A TRIAL AT OUR YOUTH ACADEMY.
For players to join the Under-12, the first and youngest team in the Academy, they need to be selected for the 1st Touch Programme.
For the older age groups, Ajax does not host any open trials. Our the team of over 20 scouts and tipgivers are responsible for finding talented players that were missed out in the younger years and are between the ages of 12 to 19 years old. These players get watched at least 3 times by a different scout each time and if all are satisfied, only then does the player receive an invitation to come on trial to be further assessed.
There is no way that a player can be invited for a trial or training sessions before he has first been watched playing for his own club or school team.
The scouting process in Cape Town extensively covers as many areas, LFAs and schools as possible and players who live further away cannot be watched expect for the scouting that takes place at selected Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 national schools, club and SAFA tournaments.
Because of our philosophy to develop and progress our Academy players through to the 1st team, scouting over the age of 19 years old only focuses on the NFD and PSL clubs.
