Spurs product Mfecane issues heartwarming farewell message

Cape Town Spurs starlet Khaya Mfecane has shared a heartwarming farewell message as he leaves the club.

The 23-year-old was promoted to the Urban Warriors first team from the academy side during the 2019/20 season and he proved to be a reliable utility player.

Mfecane operated as a right-back and a midfielder during his time with the Urban Warriors and helped the team clinch promotion to the PSL Premiership after winning the 2022/23 promotion/relegation playoffs.

“I just wanted to say how I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the past decade at club,” Mfecane said in a message shared on Spurs’ social media platform.

“From the early days of development to the opportunities on the pitch, I’ve grown so much as a player and a person.

“I’m grateful for the excellent resources and support that have helped in the pursuit of reaching my full potential,” he continued.

“I’m extremely hurt and sorry for how this season turned out, but I’m thankful for the experiences and memories we’ve made together.

“Thank you for believing in me and giving me the chance to represent this amazing club. I’m a warrior at heart.”

Mfecane is one of the many players, who were nurtured in Spurs’ esteemed academy and went on to represent South Africa, having been part of the country’s under-23 national team.
