Trophy King Bids Farewell:Herman’s Glory Years at Spurs

Andrew Herman’s coaching journey at Cape Town Spurs began in 2020 as an assistant coach with the U18s and later in the ABC Motsepe League setup.

In 2021 he and Duncan Crowie guided the U19 team to Bayhill Premier Cup victory and the following season he was appointed head coach with only seven matches remaining and successfully steered the side clear of relegation by relying on talented U18 players.

Herman then served as assistant coach to Tyren Arendse before returning to lead the U18s, where his teams won the league and knockout cup and later completed a treble that included the Coke Cup.

In his final season of 2026 he guided a young squad to an 8th-place finish in the Hollywoodbets SA Men’s Regional League against senior opposition and also masterminded a 2-0 win over Randburg United to claim the Pat Connolly Mid-Section Trophy at the 2026 Bayhill Premier Cup.

On 24 July 2026 his tenure at Spurs ended when he was relieved of his coaching duties.

Reflecting on the journey, Herman said: “Thank you for the write up Lesley. The Urban Warrior family thank you for your support over the years, meant so much too me.”
