Tokozile Xasa full of praise for Ajax Cape Town’s Youth Academy

Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou on Saturday morning welcomed Minister of Tourism ,Tokozile Xasa, to Ikamva.

With our Youth Teams in action, Xasa took some time out of her busy schedule to explore our base in Parow this past weekend – its safe to say that the Minister was impressed with what the Urban Warriors have to offer.

We pride ourselves on our Youth Academy structures and Xasa was full of praise for the ‘world class’ facilities at Ikamva.

“First and foremost, I am fascinated by seeing the young people who’s faces are glowing and it really is something great – a programme that will take them to greater heights,”said Xasa.

“Early in the morning they are out here and they do something they love, all thank you to Ajax Cape Town. The facilities here…it’s world class.

“Touring the facilities and seeing what the young people are exposed to, I am just short of words to explain. Thank you for developing the mind, I don’t only see a focus on sport, sport, sport, but sport for development – here you focus on young people and it is really amazing.

Ajax Cape Town’s commitment to the youth of Cape Town stretches beyond the confines of the field, something Xasa earmarked and hopes to see replicated across South Africa.

“Coming from the Eastern Cape, working throughout the country and reaching young people with little hope in the rural areas – I feel if this kind of set up can be replicated it will go a long way in bringing together families, do a lot for our young people who are the hope of our society,”Xasa continued.

“This for me is one football club that is doing something really unique in this country – focusing on development of young people, that is true sport,”she concluded.
