Lebusa heads Urban Warriors past Baroka

Ajax Cape Town captain Mosa Lebusa scored a stoppage time winner as the Urban Warriors claimed an important 1-0 Absa Premiership win over Baroka FC at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Urban Warriors piled on the pressure in the closing stages of the clash and finally found the breakthrough in the 93rd minute as Lebusa pounced following a mistake from the Bakgaga shot-stopper.

Ayanda Dlamini looked virtually unbeatable for most of the game as he pulled of world class saves to deny Samuel Julies and Tashreeq Morris from close range, while Lebusa, Yannick Zakri and Sirgio Kammies squandered further chances for the hosts in a frantic finale.

Persistence, though, finally paid dividends with time running out at the ‘Graveyard’ as good work from Kammies and then Morris forced a mistake out of Dlamini for Lebusa to head home from close range.

Victory moves the Urban Warriors out of the relegation zone with two games remaining. Next up for Muhsin Ertugral’s troops is a trip away to Mamelodi Sundowns this Saturday. Kick-off at the Lucas Moripe Stadium is at 15h00 CAT.
