Moosa inspire Spurs to comeback victory

Cape Town Spurs recorded maximum points in a 2-1 win over Venda Football Academy in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Following subdued periods in the first-half, the travelling outfit took the lead four minutes before the break, as Onke Moletshe got his name on the scoresheet.

The Urban Warriors showcased their fighting spirit in the subsequent half and immediately went on the attack. In a moment that changed the complexion of the game, Spurs were awarded a penalty in the 51st minute, which was converted by Therlo Moosa.

In hot form, Moosa completed his brace 10 minutes later with a close range header inside the Venda penalty area. Upon taking the lead, coach Shaun Bartlett’s troops continued to venture forward and even struck the upright during the closing stages of the match.

Spurs are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak in league, which includes two consecutive home wins at the Athlone Stadium.
