Bartlett: ‘Everything depends on us’

Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett expects JDR Stars to provide a tough challenge in their next Motsepe Foundation Championship clash.

The Urban Warriors will travel to the Soshanguve Stadium this weekend, where they will take on JDR Stars on Saturday afternoon. (Kick-off is at 3pm)

Spurs will be looking to correct their ways in their next challenge, following a 2-1 defeat against Pretoria Callies in their last fixture before the international break.

Speaking ahead of the tie, Bartlett mentioned that while Spurs sit at the top of the table, it is within his squad’s hands to remain in first place until the end of the campaign.

“Coming up against JDR Stars at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium will be another tough game,” Bartlett said.

“It’s the first of six games for us, which like I said before, is the business end of the season.

“We had to work on a few things that went wrong in that Callies game and obviously waited on our U23 national team players to come back so we can inform them of what needs to happen this coming weekend.

“Every game will be important for us, we are still number one on the log and everything depends on us going forward as far as staying there and maintaining that position until the 14th of May.

“That is the goal we set for ourselves in pre-season.”
