Spurs suffer defeat in Carling KO Cup

Cape Town Spurs bowed out of the Carling Knockout Cup on Friday night, with Orlando Pirates claiming a 2-0 win over the Urban Warriors on home soil.

The boys looked bright during the opening exchanges of the game and came close to opening the scoresheet on a couple of occasions.

As standout performers, the likes of Luvuyo Phewa and Therlo Moosa troubled the Pirates defence but ultimately fell short in the final third.

Two second-half goals by Thapelo Xoki and Kermit Erasmus was enough for the home team to progress to the next stage of the tournament.

Cape Town Spurs: Dlamini (Ramsbottom 63’), Lukhubeni, Allie, Haukongo, Dortley, Morton (Mfecane 78’)(Baartman 78’), Buchanan, Nel, Thethani (Msani 55’), Phewa, Moosa
