Manousakis: ‘The boys are amped’
Cape Town Spurs assistant coach Vasili Manousakis mentioned that the Urban Warriors are relishing the opportunity to play in a new competition, namely the Carling Knockout Cup.
With the resumption of club football upon us, Spurs will travel to the Orlando Stadium on Friday where they will take on Orlando Pirates in the keenly anticipated Carling Knockout Cup tournament.
Reflecting on the game, Manousakis said that the boys were hard at work during the break and will look to make it through to the next round of the competition.
“We really looking forward to the Carling Cup match tomorrow night, the boys are amped,” Manousakis said.
“They’re ready and looking forward to the new competition, a very innovative one from the PSL
“It gives the boys an opportunity to go out in a new competition, they aim is to get through to the next round.
“Hopefully we can play a little bit more freely but we’re playing against a formidable opponent in Orlando Pirates.
“We know they are cup specialists having recently won the MTN8, its never easy going to Orlando to play but we’re confident, we’ve been working really hard. We had some good time in the FIFA break to tweak a couple of things and instil some new principles of play.
“After tomorrow night’s match, we should have a good indication of how much we progressed over the last two and a half weeks since the changes in coaching staff.”
