Coach Ernst Middendorp speaks on previous result
Cape Town Spurs suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chippa United in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening and coach Ernst Middendorp has expressed how he felt about the result.
The team was going through a decent run of form recently, but their last two matches ended in losses, the previous one being against Moroka Swallows in the dying minutes of the game.
“In this game you know that 80% of goals get scored by transitions in the soccer industry worldwide,” said Middendorp.
The coach felt that the team got caught on the counter attack despite having played well and that is how they ultimately lost out on the points.
With the Urban Warriors neck and neck with Richards Bay FC who are in 15th place, Middendorp feels that the target is to challenge them for the play-offs position instead of possibly aiming a little too high in the remaining matches.
According to the tactician, there are some matches that the team will win and others they will lose, it is as simple as that by his analysis.
Spurs’ next fixture in the DStv Premiership is a clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening, 9 April.
