Cape Town Spurs do battle against Mamelodi Sundowns

In their next league match, Cape Town Spurs will play against Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Kick off is at 19h30 CAT.

The Urban Warriors will be facing a tough test against the league leaders who have also come off the back of qualification for the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Coach Ernst Middendorp continues to maintain that the team’s goal at this moment is to continue picking up as many points as possible until the end of the season.

As it stands, Spurs have 12 points and are in 16th place, five points behind Richards Bay. However, with a positive result and a game in hand there is a possibility to be within reach of a play-off spot. 

Instead of perhaps setting a slightly unrealistic goal for the remaining games, Middendorp believes that the goal should be to challenge them for the play-off place.

The tactician believes that the team will win some games and lose others; his analysis makes this conclusion quite clear.

As for Sundowns, the team’s head coach Rulani Mokwena expressed in a press conference that he is looking forward to the match against Spurs.

He also added that he is a fan of Middendorp himself and it would be good to see the coach again and perhaps put a smile on his face with the proceedings.
