Spurs face loss against Sundowns
Cape Town Spurs were defeated 1-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening at the Athlone Stadium.
Despite showing a good display in the attack when being forced into their own half, Spurs could not find the goal against the visitors.
The solitary goal in the match was a penalty scored by Lucas Ribeiro, which was awarded after Peter Shalulile was brought down in the box towards the end of the first half.
The Urban Warriors went into the break behind, but returned to the second half showing more determination to level matters.
The team did well to not concede more goals against a team with seasoned attackers, and gave Sundowns a hard time towards the end of the match.
Ashley Cupido was close to scoring twice in both the first and second half, but it was not enough to get onto the scoresheet as the team faced a loss at home against the league leaders.
