Urban Warriors march on to face Rise and Shine

The Urban Warriors will press on to their next league fixture when they face Polokwane City in the DStv Premiership at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is 19h30 CAT.

Coming off the back of an impressive 1-0 win against Richards Bay to lessen the gap in the relegation-battle, Spurs have a great mood and will hope to carry on the momentum in this next match.

Although still at the bottom of the log, the Urban Warriors are now five points adrift from the play-off position, which is the position that coach Ernst Middendorp is hoping for to have a fighting chance of staying in the DStv Premiership.

Polokwane City were defeated 5-0 by Stellenbosch over the weekend, and will not be easy opposition as they seek vengeance from the humiliating result. However, Middendorp remains hopeful.

“After not winning for five games in a row, you are very happy to have some excitement and I definitely will not dampen down the excitement,” he said.

“I think it’s very crucial in terms of the confidence level. Now the mood will be good going into the Polokwane City game.”

Middendorp says they can only wait and see how the remaining matches unfold in order to avoid getting ahead of themselves.

“We’ll do our best to try to be prepared to find the right decisions. There will be again some changes because of injuries and suspension but let’s wait and see.”
