Spurs target top spot with Milford win
Cape Town Spurs will travel to the Princess Magogo Stadium to take on Milford FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship clash on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT.
The Urban Warriors have had a positive start to the current season – picking up four points out of a possible six from two matches against the University of Pretoria and Venda FC.
A 0-0 draw with the University of Pretoria away on 25 August was followed by a 1-0 victory over Venda FC at home on 30 August just before the recent FIFA international break.
Spurs are currently placed fifth in the league standings and they will climb to the top of the table if they secure a win over Milford, and the other results go their way.
Having scored the winning goal against Venda, Mervin Boji will be confident of inspiring coach Ernst Middendorp’s side to another victory when they face Milford.
Meanwhile, Milford have also had a good start to the current campaign – collecting maximum points from their first two matches against Venda and JDR Stars.
A 2-0 victory over Venda away on 24 August was followed by a 1-0 victory against Stars away which sees Milford placed at the top of the league standings with six points.
One of Milford’s key players is Siphosethu Ndlabi who was on the scoresheet as coach Mandla Qhogi’s side claimed a victory over Venda.
In Head-To-Head stats, this will be the first-ever meeting between Spurs and Milford.
