Spurs seeking maximum points in awaiting Kruger clash

Cape Town Spurs’ next assignment in the Motsepe Foundation Championship will be to do all that’s possible to grab all three points in an encounter with Kruger United at KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs were unlucky in their last match in the league as they drew 1-1 with Upington City.

The match was one that was highly intense, and also led to the sending off of key player Michael Morton in the dying stages of the game.

It has been a whirlwind of a season with just seven games played so far in the championship, and the team’s chances of automatic promotion have taken a slight dip due to the results.

Coach Ernst Middendorp has been vocal about his disappointment with the officiating in the second-tier, and expressed why he’s remaining with Spurs despite being approached for other positions.

“I have started a project. At the beginning of the year, we were introducing all these young players. I am quite comfortable with the purpose and the business model of the club at the moment,” he said.
