Mhlongo joins CT Spurs technical team

Cape Town Spurs have announced that Benson Mhlongo will be taking on the role of assistant coach, following the departure of Vasili Manousakis.

Former Bafana Bafana player Mhlongo was serving as the coordinator and player development manager at the South African Football Players Union (SAPFU).

The 44-year-old retired from professional football in 2016, and he was also part of the South African national team squad that took part in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008.

Mhlongo has had spells with Orlando Pirates, Black Leopards and TS Sporting as an assistant coach, highlighting his rich experience in the field.

The club welcomed Mhlongo and showed confidence in his ability to work with head coach Ernst Middendorp to reach their goals.

“Cape Town Spurs welcome Benson Mhlongo as assistant coach,” said the club in an official statement.

“He brings extensive experience from his playing and coaching career. Welcome to the Urban Warriors, Benson.”
