Moosa’s brace leads Spurs to dominant win over Baroka
Cape Town Spurs successfully dusted themselves off in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and defeated Baroka comfortably 2-0 at the Lebowakgomo Stadium on Friday afternoon.
After having a slow start, Spurs got themselves back into the game and began stringing attacking moves together that were threatening to the Baroka defence. Asanele Velebayi drove in a cross in the 12th minute however Ebrahim Seedat was unable to make the most of it.
The team’s hard work paid off in the 28th minute as Therlo Moosa’s header made it into the back of the net through a great delivery from Khaya Mfecane’s corner. Once the Urban Warriors opened the scoring, they dominated in terms of ball possession.
The second half of play saw Baroka have some opportunities on goal however, the Urban Warriors held firm. Moosa completed his brace in the 60th minute as he once again took advantage of a corner to extend the team’s lead to two goals with another header.
As the match progressed in Limpopo, Spurs asserted their dominance and also defended well to prevent them from conceding, thus avoiding a nervy ending to the match. The hard work paid off and the Urban Warriors walked away with a crucial three points on the road.
