SA U17 set to start AFCON COSAFA Qualifiers preparations

South Africa’s national under-17 team is set to start preparations for the upcoming CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifiers 2026.

The squad for the tournament will be finalised by the technical team and the South African Football Association (SAFA) will also communicate further details about the logistics for the event.

In June, four Cape Town Spurs starlets were in the South Africa under-17 national team camp under coach David Nyathi at the SAFA Technical Centre.

Aqeel Hess, Shaqeel Edries, Noah Hempe and Lincoln Daniels were the four players who represented Spurs in the camp, and they will now be hoping to be included in the squad for the COSAFA event.

The tournament will be staged in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 11-20 September 2025 and the team will go into camp in Johannesburg on 29 August 2025. They will depart for Harare on 8 September 2025.

The draw for the tournament was conducted this week and the South Africans were drawn in Group B against Zambia, Madagascar and Malawi.
