THE PRICE OF A DREAM: The Untold Story of the Ikamva Talent Factory – Part 4 of 4
A Legacy Beyond Our Days
Despite the immense challenges and the often-unfair treatment, my brothers and I continue this fight. Our motivation is not personal gain. The shareholders have never had a return on their investment in a financial sense; the return has been purely the joy of seeing the next kid rise from despair. This profound satisfaction, the transformation of lives from hopelessness to prosperity, is our true reward. It is a return on investment that cannot be quantified in balance sheets but is immeasurable in human terms.
We believe a “third force” has been at work, hindering our efforts and creating obstacles behind the scenes in boardrooms and on football fields. This unseen adversary adds another layer of complexity to our already arduous journey. Yet, despite these battles, we remain steadfast. As Ari puts it, “We are not just building footballers; we are forging young men. We have to give them the armour to face a world that is often hostile and unforgiving. That is a responsibility that goes far beyond winning a single match or a trophy.”
A battle may have been lost, but the war is yet to be won. And that war, for us, is the victory of keeping the Ikamva institution in the folklore of South African and Cape Town football.
Our ultimate goal is to leave behind a lasting legacy of football development. This endeavor must continue beyond our days. It is a commitment that transcends our personal involvement, aiming to ensure that Ikamva remains a beacon of hope and opportunity for future generations. Our story, largely untold to the wider football community, is one of unwavering dedication, immense personal sacrifice, and a relentless pursuit of a vision that prioritizes human potential over profit. The fans may only see the completed player on the field, but behind every success story lies the profound, unseen cost borne by Ikamva and its founders.
OUR YOUTH , OUR FUTURE !
