Dortley honoured after ‘special’ Bayview tournament
Cape Town Spurs starlet Emile Dortley was honoured at the recent 2025 Bayview Youth Tournament, which was hailed as ‘special’.
Emile, whose older brother is a Spurs academy product, Rushwin, was named Player of the Tournament after inspiring the Urban Warriors to glory.
The teenage sensation scored a fantastic free-kick as Spurs claimed a 2-1 victory over Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town in the final at the Athlone Stadium.
“This was a very special year for us, not only because the finals were played at the Athlone Stadium, but it was also a huge milestone for the team. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary,” tournament organiser and Bayview FC chair Mark Rodrigues said.
Rushwin became a key player in Spurs’ first team after being promoted from the club’s academy in 2020 and also captained South Africa at the 2024 COSAFA Cup in Gqeberha.
The talented left-footed defender was sold to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2024/25 season and he is now a permanent fixture in the Bafana Bafana squad under coach Hugo Broos.
Emile will also be hoping to become a Spurs first-team key player and Bafana international.
