It is all about development at Spurs – Herman
Cape Town Spurs academy coach Andrew Herman has made it clear that player development is the main priority at the club.
This comes after the tactician guided the Urban Warriors’ under-18 side to the 2025 Coca-Cola Amateur Cup triumph after overcoming Everton FC in the final.
It was a match which saw Zaheer Adriaanse and captain Alistair Frans score to secure a 2-0 victory over their counterparts at the Athlone Stadium.
“I think what we are putting in from the technical side, number one, is that we try to develop all the time, try to get better all the time,” Herman said.
“And we bring in new players. Alister, for instance, is our captain here. He is a new player. It is his first year with us. So even then, we try to get to the best of what the player is number one.
“I mean, we brought in a good player. I think where he comes from, Belhar Spurs, I should mention that they did a fantastic job with the player,” he continued.
“For our side is all about development. It is the trophies that come, yes, we are happy with those things, but the first thing is first, can we develop a better player, can we develop a better man?
“So it’s all about development and obviously, the trophies come along, we can’t stop them.”
