‘Out of this world’ – Spurs’ Dortley after cup double

Cape Town Spurs starlet Emile Dortley has reflected on his recent success with the club’s under-18 team at the tender age of 16.

The teenage sensation, who operates as a left-back and centre-back, helped the Urban Warriors clinch the 2025 Coca-Cola Amateur Cup after outclassing Everton FC in the final last month.

In August, Dortley had been honoured at the 2025 Bayview Youth Tournament as the best player, after playing a key role in Spurs winning the trophy following a win over Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town in the final.

“The feeling was honestly out of this world,” Dortley said when speaking to Cape Town’s Football Culture following Spurs’ Coca-Cola Amateur Cup triumph. 

“And for me, getting the opportunity through the grace of God to play my first Coca-Cola cup at the age of 16 and winning the tournament, it just felt amazing.”

When asked where you sees yourself in the next couple of years as a soccer player, he said, “In the next five years, god willing, I see myself playing in Europe.”

For now, Dortley is focused on developing into an even better player and progressing through Spurs’ academy ranks, following in the footsteps of his brother, Rushwin Dortley, the Bafana Bafana, and Kaizer Chiefs star.
