Spurs Defender Earns U23 National Team Call-Up

Cape Town Spurs defender Sibabalwe Valela is in the South African U23 national team selection camp ahead of the Road to LA 2028 Olympics.

The right-back’s inclusion in the 33-player squad is a strong vote of confidence in his current form for Spurs.

Valela has been a standout performer for the Urban Warriors in the 2025/26 season, earning his first senior national youth call-up at this level.

Coach Raymond Mdaka is using the camp, which runs until July 6, to assess players for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers.

Valela’s composure on the ball and solid defensive displays have made him one of South Africa’s most promising young full-backs.

His call-up is a proud moment for Spurs, who continue to produce quality talent for South Africa’s youth teams.
