Menzo impressed by Tokkie’s progress

Ajax Cape Town head coach Stanley Menzo is impressed by the strides made by Toriq Losper, as he continues his road to full recovery.

The 24-year-old picked up a meniscal injury to his left knee and hasn’t featured for the Urban Warriors since the 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership, over six months ago.

But, having recently started running – Losper partook in a part of First Team training last week as he continues to make steady and cautious progress.

Menzo, though, is not ready to rush Losper back into the team with the former Dutch international happy to wait an extra month, rather than forcing the issue at the risk of the midfielder suffering a setback.

“He is doing well, he took part in a training session with the group last week, but I think we have to take care,” Menzo said. “Rather one month too late than one week too early, but he is looking very sharp.

“We will wait, we are taking things step by step – he is on his way.

“His influence, his personality I think is good, benefits the team,” Menzo concluded.
