INJURY UPDATE: Positive news for Rheece Evans, Toriq Losper
Rheece Evans and Toriq Losper have recovered from their respective injuries and returned to full training to boost Stanley Menzo’s squad.
Furthermore, Isaac Nhalpo and Shane Saralina have also made a return, but unfortunately the Urban Warriors faithful will not see new signing Morne Nel in action just yet, as he continues his road to full recovery.
Head of Medical at Ajax Cape Town, Jantho Greyling, has given us the latest injury update from Ikamva ahead of our Absa Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates this coming Tuesday:
Rheece Evans
He had surgery to his groin and it is going very well, he is fully fit and playing without trouble again. He is back in full training and will play this weekend [for the MultiChoice Diski Challenge team against Chippa United] to boost his match fitness.
He has played in friendly games for 20-30 minutes so we are taking is slowly, hopefully he will be back as soon as possible, as soon as his match fitness is where it should be.
Toriq Losper
Good news for ‘Tokkie’, he has recovered from the anterior labrum tear of his hip joint, he had an MRI earlier in the week and that labrum has completely healed which is great.
He is also back in training and as soon as he gets his fitness back he will be eligible to play, but we first have to work on that to make sure he is match fit. He had his first training session on Thursday and we are very happy to see him back.
Isaac Nhlapo
Isaac Nhalpo has recovered after suffering an adductor strain that he picked up in the game against Maritzburg United when he had to be substituted in the first-half, he has recovered fully. He is back in training and should be fit for the Pirates game.
Shane Saralina
He has recovered from the high grade partial tear of the medial collateral ligament of his knee so he is back in training since the start of last week. It is looking good and he is gaining fitness – he should be back playing matches very soon.
Morne Nel
He visited the specialist for consultation on Thursday morning and we will make a final call whether we will treat his groin injury with surgery or conservative treatment. We will have an answer later this week, but he will definitely -unfortunately – be out for a prolonged period.
