PREVIEW: Muhsin Ertugral predicts exciting iKapa Derby

Ajax Cape Town will renew their rivalry with Cape Town City in a hotly anticipated Absa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 15h30 CAT.

The Urban Warriors are desperate to make amends with victory over their crosstown rivals, having suffered a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Head coach Muhsin Ertugral watched his side fight back from a goal down to record a 3-1 win over Platinum Stars last time out. Tercious Malepe, Tashreeq Morris and Tendai Ndoro with the goals for hosts in a memorable win.

Victory, though, was but a small drop in the ocean with the Urban Warriors having now sett their sights on the Citizens as we aim to climb further up the log standings.

“I think both teams are hungry for this,” said Ertugral. “And when you have two offensive teams such as this, then it is always a positive. I think, from a spectator point of view, it’s going to be a really exciting game.”

“The Cape Town derby is a really nice derby, also from a supporter’s perspective, and South Africa needs these types of derbies.”

Ertugral credited City for the progress made since their Mpumalanga Black Aces days and hopes fellow Capetonian’s will flock to the stadium in support of what should be an exciting clash.

“I believe it will be a massive game – City are playing good football, and I have great memories with many of their players, with many youngsters who played a fantastic role in our Black Aces success,” Ertugral added. “I think there will be nice, open football played, which will be good for the fans to watch, and I hope the stadium will be full.

“I’m feeling pretty confident, I must say,” he concluded.
