GRADUATED: Zaakir Allie pens PSL contract
Having enjoyed the highs of jetting off to the Netherlands for two weeks to train at De Toekomst with Ajax Amsterdam’s U19 team, Zaakir Allie would be forgiven if he thought his month couldn’t get any better.
But, with an eye on the future and staying true to our philosophy, the club is excited to announce that Zaakir is the latest player to graduate from the club’s Youth Academy to our PSL squad.
The 18-year-old, who is currently completing matric at Windsor High School, was born in Lansdowne, 20 km south of the club’s Ikamva base in Parow. He will officially join the Urban Warriors First Team at the start of pre-season for the 2018-19 campaign.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Ajax Cape Town for granting me this amazing opportunity to sign my first professional contract,” Allie told ajaxct.co.za.
“I am blessed and grateful for being promoted, this is a great step forward in my career and now the hard work steps up a notch.
Allie’s football career has enjoyed a distinct upward curve this month, with his first ever trip to Europe having increased his desire to make a swift return to the Netherlands.
“A week ago I was in Amsterdam and it was just the best feeling ever! Experiencing the day-to-day life of footballers at one of the biggest club’s in the world, meeting football legends like Marc Overmars and Edwin van der Sar and also seeing snow for the first time. It was fun and very, very cold at the same time [laughs].
“Playing football in Europe is my dream and I hope to make a permanent return in the future,” Allie concluded.
