Ajax youth set to play against top flight European squads

Ajax Cape Town will be jetting off this weekend to play in the prestigious Terborg Toernooi tournament in Europe, Ajax Cape Town have been seeded in a very tough group with Vitesse, Flamengo and Tottenham.

The Terborg Toernooi tournament will host only 8 squads across the world which include both Champions league finalists Liverpool and Tottenham, other squads will include Palmeiras, FC Midtjylland, De Graafschap, Flamengo and Vitesse. This is a great opportunity for young players to get the highest level of exposure to top talent across the world.

”The Ajax brand will always be about developing youth, it is obviously tougher in the NFD because we would love to be in the PSL so we can make use of the MDC (Reserve league) in order to have a good stepping stone for the up and coming youth players. Perhaps if all South Africans understood the reason for developing youth, South Africa could compete on a national level, in fact if all South African squads developed players Ajax could retain their best youth rather than supplying PSL squads. We have to carry on with our development and keep sending our youth players to top level tournaments so they can achieve the right level of development” explained Shooz Mekuto.
