Ajax Till I DIE
21 years is a long ,long time for someone to travel 70,3 km every second weekend to and from home to the Stadium showing your Loyalty to One Club [Ajax Cape Town FC].
Sandwiched between these years are Bus Trips full of memories when Ajax Cape Town participated in various Cup Competitions, Cup Semi Finals and the memorable Cup Finals.
This past weekend Ajax faithful’s had to lay to rest Mr William Roos/Olkers, popularly known as “Timer” to the Ajax Fans.
“Timer was not just an Ajax Supporter, he was Mr Ajax in Atlantis, Mr Ajax to his Family and Mr Ajax to all those who have Ajax Cape Town best interest at heart.”
Mark Kulp takes us through some of the memories “Timer” has left us with.
“I will remember Timer for always arriving first for our away Bus trips so that we can first Braai and start the party before we depart from Ikamva”.
“He was always the last to get out of the bus, so we can have a longer break during our away games bus trips”
“You will always find Timer with a Glass of his favourite drink in his hand whenever we are on the road, and he we always remind you who is the Elder in the trip and tell you about your Mother and your Father ha.ha.ha, if you ask him about the glass”
“Timer will come on the bus trip all the way to Durban but still miss the game”.
“I remember the Absa Cup Final in 2007, Timer and Swipe [May his Soul Rest in peace also] came inside the stadium with a full bottle of Famous Goose Whiskey still ask us what was the final score on our way back to Cape Town. Ha.ha.ha.
Match Day will never be the same as we will miss someone who has been part of us for the last 21 years. So when you do open your fridge and throw Ice into the glass, please think of “Timer” as he would always be with us always……
Rest in peace Warrior
