Cape Town Spurs’ 2021-22 season in numbers

Cape Town Spurs brought their 2021-22 GladAfrica Championship season to a close this past weekend with a 0-0 draw against league champions Richards Bay.

We take a closer look at the numbers and stats which summed up the Urban Warriors’ campaign.

14 – The final league position Spurs attained on the 2021-22 GladAfrica Championship log.

6 – The number of wins Spurs picked up in the GAC season. Only Jomo Cosmos (five) had fewer.

9 – The number of defeats suffered by Spurs in the GAC season – the fewest of any team which finished in the bottom half of the table.

21 – The points difference between Spurs (33) and champions Richards Bay (54).

12 – Spurs kept 12 clean sheets this season. Twelve is also the number of times the Urban Warriors failed to score in a match.

4-0 – Spurs’ biggest victory was a 4-0 triumph away to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on 21 November 2021.

1-6 – Spurs’ heaviest defeat was a 6-1 reverse at the hands of Pretoria Callies on 17 October 2021.

27 – Ashley Cupido made the most league appearances for Spurs this season, playing in 27 matches (11 as a starter and 16 as a substitute).

4 – Cupido was also the club’s co-top scorer, with four goals. Eyona Ndondo also netted four times through the course of the season.

39 – The average minute in which Spurs scored their first goal in a match. However, the Urban Warriors scored the highest percentage of their goals (29.6) from minutes 60 to 75.
