Spurs held 1-1 by Rovers
Cape Town Spurs were held 1-1 by Platinum City Rovers at Olen Park in Potchefstroom on Monday afternoon.
Battling against the oppressive heat, the Urban Warriors put in a hard-working display to take a point from their trip to the North West, leaving them in 12th place on the log with five points from as many matches. Rovers, meanwhile, registered their first point of the season and stayed in 16th (last) place.
Spurs claimed the lead just past the half-hour mark via Ashley Cupido, who struck for the fourth time in five matches this season.
However, Rovers hit back to ensure the match was locked at 1-1 heading into the interval.
The second half saw the teams huff and puff against the tough conditions, but ultimately neither was able to find a way to put the ball into the back of the net – leaving Spurs and Rovers to settle for a share of the spoils.
Spurs will return to MFC action on the afternoon of Saturday 8 October when they welcome Polokwane City to Athlone Stadium.
