Spurs seek another victory on the road

With Athlone Stadium proving to be a fortress for Cape Town Spurs this season, the Urban Warriors will now shift their attention to Baroka FC as the squad make their way to the Global Stadium this week.

As mentioned, Spurs have been making the most of their home ground advantage this season and are currently on a nine-match winning streak at Athlone Stadium. 

The Urban Warriors faced Uthongathi in their last away encounter and recorded a crucial 1-0 win at the Princess Magogo Stadium on February 17. Inspired by Ashley Cupido, the in-form striker’s 30th minute strike was enough for Spurs to bag maximum points in the league tie. 

With automatic promotion being a clear mandate by the club, Spurs currently trail log leaders Casric Stars by a single point, while boasting a slightly superior goal difference. 

Also, the Urban Warriors faced Baroka in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 earlier this month, claiming a 3-0 win in Athlone.
