Spurs bag maximum points at home again

In what was a tough afternoon at the Athlone Stadium, Cape Town Spurs collected all three points in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs went into the tie on the back of three consecutive victories in all competitions, while being on a run of eight straight league wins at the Athlone Stadium.

Black Leopards proved to be a tough nut to crack, particularly in the first-half, as the Urban Warriors struggled to make the most of their goal scoring chances.

Much like that of the first 45, Spurs found the going tough for much of the second-half, until Ashely Cupido popped up in the 75th minute to give Spurs the lead.

Enjoying a fruitful 2022/23 campaign in front of goal, Cupido completed his brace in minute 87, giving his side a cushion during the closing stages of the tie. Leopards managed to pull one back late on in the game, however, it was too little too late as the Urban Warriors continued to make Athlone Stadium a fortress.

Spurs: Vyver, Allie, Haukongo, Dortley, Mfecane, Nel, Moroole, Thethani, Phewa, Cupido, Moosa
