Spurs welcome Callies to Athlone

Now as leaders of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Cape Town Spurs will take on Pretoria Callies in their latest league fixture with the tie set to take place at Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 

In view of a  PSL promotional finish come the end of season, the Urban Warriors have been basking in their fine form in the last couple of months. Following a 3-2 win against Baroka last week, Spurs recorded their 10th straight win at home in the league. 

As it stands, coach Shaun Bartlett and company occupy first place one the table, holding a slender one point lead over Polokwane City in second spot. 

The first league fixture between Spurs and Callies this season took place on September 3, as the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium. 

As one of the best players in South Africa’s first division, Ashley Cupido is Spurs’ top scorer in the league this season, having scored 14 goals in 23 appearances so far.
