Spurs bag three crucial points against Casric Stars

Cape Town Spurs ended Casric Stars 16-match unbeaten streak in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this weekend, after their 2-0 victory at the Athlone Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Urban Warriors made their intentions known early on and attacked the Casric backline from the outset.  Spurs’ pressure paid off in the 5th minute as Ashley Cupido found Therlo Moosa with a pin-point pass on the edge of the six-yard area, as the striker’s feint touch beat the opposition goalkeeper.

Spurs then found themselves under pressure for large parts of the second-half but held on to preserve their lead going into the break.

Much like that of the first 45, Spurs began the subsequent half on a positive note. Casric Stars replied with attacks of their own however, the Urban Warriors sat tight and defended their quarters astutely.

Spurs doubled their lead in the 77th minute, as second-half substitute Boitumelo Radiopane got his name on the scoresheet yet again. With great anticipation, Radiopane intercepted a careless backpass by the Casric defender before rounding the keeper with a calm finish.
