Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett lauded his side’s fighting spirit following their 1-0 win against Casric Stars in the PSL promotion play-off opener last week.
In taking to a packed Solomon Mahlangu Stadium last weekend, the Urban Warriors drew first blood in the play-offs, with Ashley Cupido’s looping header in the 67th minute being the difference in the tie.
Speaking after the match, Bartlett spoke highly of his side’s perseverance in a high pressure fixture.
“We were persevering, pushing in the last 20 minutes and we could have gotten a second or third goal,” Bartlett said.
“The way we played, the fighting spirit all over the park from the players, those are the things that will count a lot.
“Sometimes with these games, it’s not so much about the tactics, it’s about the attitude and willingness to win games.”
