Bartlett: ‘Different game, different conditions’

Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett mentioned that despite getting a positive result against Casric Stars last time out, their next PSL Promotion play-off tie against the Motsepe Foundation Championship side will be different.

After making it two wins out of two in the promotion play-offs, Spurs will now host Casric Stars at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Urban Warriors go into the next game on the back of a morale boosting 1-0 win over Maritzburg United, as they maintained their 100% win rate in the play-offs.

Reflecting on the return fixture against Casric, Bartlett lauded his side’s effort against the Team of Choice but warned his side about becoming too complacent.

“Playing a against a PSL team, we definitely stepped up a level

“We increased our intensity and energy, which was great but the support from the fans prepared us well for the next game at home against Casric Stars.

“We beat them in the first game away but that doesn’t mean anything. It’s a different game, different conditions. Like I always say to the players, every time you step onto the field, it’s to earn the right to win games, do not underestimate, do not expect just to get results.

“Nobody’s going to give us anything; everything that we’ve got rewarded for this season has been through hard work.”
