Spurs’ move one step closer to PSL promotion

Despite ending the game with 10-men, Cape Town Spurs claimed an important 1-0 victory against Casric Stars in the PSL Promotion play-offs on Wednesday afternoon.

Taking to a cold and wet Athlone Stadium, Spurs showcased their zest going forward and took the game to the opposing side.

While the game ended 0-0 at half-time, the Urban Warriors resumed the subsequent half with energy and vigor. Spurs were dealt with a blow in the 65th minute, after Ashley Cupido received his marching orders from the referee after an altercation with one of the Casric players.

However, after a string of precise passes on the edge of the Casric box, Morne Nel got his name on the score sheet in the 72nd minute to give Spurs a crucial victory at home.

Spurs will now take on Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on the 14th of June, in what will be the final PSL Promotion play-off tie.
