Bartlett on ‘do-or-die’ play-off clash
Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett has backed his side to take the game to Maritzburg United ahead of the final PSL Promotion play-off clash on Wednesday evening.
In what will be the final game of a grueling season, the Urban Warriors will make their way to the Harry Gwala stadium on Wednesday, needing just a point to gain promotion to the PSL.
Maritzburg on the other hand require maximum points to stay in South Africa’s topflight, however, Bartlett feels that the Team of Choice pressure to deliver could come as a blessing in disguise for his side.
“Going into our last game with Maritzburg at Harry Gwala, it’s a do-or-die situation for both teams,” Bartlett said.
“The upper hand that we have is the points in the bag, so all we have to do is avoid defeat in our match. That doesn’t mean we are going to sit back. We are going with the same attitude and intentions we had in the previous game, which is taking the game to them
“They are playing at home, so they will be under pressure from their home fans to push a bit more and hopefully give us more space to go and attack.”
