Bartlett on exciting season opener

With Cape Town Spurs travelling to the Mbombela Stadium this weekend, coach Shaun Bartlett recently gave his thoughts on the Urban Warriors’ 2023/24 DStv Premiership opener against TS Galaxy. 

Exciting times lay ahead for the Urban Warriors family as the club prepares for a keenly anticipated 23/24 campaign in top flight football.  

Bartlett and his squad will make their way to the Mbombela stadium on Sunday where they will take on Sead Ramovic’s Rockets outfit.  

Speaking ahead of the tie, Bartlett spoke of the nerves, excitement and need to level up ahead of the new season.  

“We’re looking forward to it, after the unveiling and revealing of the new kit and our players for the new season,” Bartlett said.  

“Its mixed emotions, quite excited but also a bit of nerves creeping in as we approach the first game against TS Galaxy at Mbombela.  

“We are confident enough to go there and get a result. The last four weeks of preparation has been going really well, pre-season started off a bit slow.  

“We didn’t have a long break after the last play-off game and achieving promotion, but our player came back in a decent state and a good level of fitness.

“There was not a lot of work that was needed to be done where fitness is concerned, it was more about getting minutes under our belt.”
