Spurs suffer narrow opening day defeat
With the first 2023/24 DStv Premiership encounter played at the Mbombela Stadium this weekend, the Urban Warriors suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against TS Galaxy on Sunday afternoon.
In testing the waters, the Urban Warriors looked solid during the early stages of the match and did well to keep the Rockets at an arm’s length throughout the first half.
Coach Shaun Bartlett’s side looked comfortable on away soil and often took the game to the home team but were unable to capitalize on the scoring chances produced.
Spurs were unfortunate to concede late on in the tie, due to a deflected effort inside the box. As a positive, goalkeeper Zama Dlamini proved to be one of the best players on the pitch in keeping the scoreline a narrow one at that.
Cape Town Spurs: Dlamini, Dortley, Allie, Daniels, Stander, Moroole, Buchanan (Ryan 68’), Nel (Mfecane 89’), Bern (Velebayi 68’), Butsaka, Moosa (Nell 89’)
